Red Lagoon of the Flamengos

The Red Lake is at 4.278mosl and it has a brilliant red colour due to the pigments of microscopic weeds and deposits that changes the intensity during the day , mainly when it is windy

The contrast of the white colour of the borax in the banks , the water dark blue , the red colour produced by the weeds and the sky make that the landscape be a real show

it is an ideal place to see flamingos

At 5.000m high is an area of small craters that produce an intense volcanic activity and there you may see boiling lava , “fumarolas” (steam) that release sulphur gases and wells that produce vertical steam emissions ( geysers ) that reach highs of 10 to 50 m

The geysers must be seen first time in the morning , ta sun rise , that is when contrasts the morning cold with the heat that comes out from the wells
